Lockport Emergency Management Agency

The city's Emergency Management Agency is comprised of a Director and several volunteers. The members are trained to assist in emergencies, whether traffic-related, weather-related, etc. EMA also helps with several special events throughout the year. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer Emergency Management officer, please contact Phil Rittenhouse, EMA Director (see the following contact information).

EMA is also seeking Sentry volunteer members. Sentry volunteers will occasionally be asked to verify the presence of odors near their homes or workplaces. Just think, in less than 30 seconds you can help your community manage an environmental problem! Our Sentry Member Network will consist of Lockport residents. Identical networks are in operation in our neighboring communities as well. When an odor complaint is received by the City, the EMA Director will contact the Sentry member who lives or works closest to where the odor my be originating. The Sentry member will then be asked to verify the existence of the odor. Sentry members can also report odors to the EMA Director. This is the first time Lockport has attempted to manage this environmental issue in this manner, so please help your community!
